The production is currently in its ninth season and approaching Tx of its 200th episodes, and the format has been commissioned by M-Net elsewhere in Africa. DMF has set Twitter alight as people pass comments and share insights on the interactions of the possible suitor and the families who are desperate to hook their sibling/friend up on a date.

 

During the COVID-19 lockdown, the series pivoted into DMF@home where prior episodes were watched and commented on by comedians until conditions allowed the series to go back into full production.
